Affordable hotel in a vibrant part of Cairo

The hotel is located in a vibrant spot of Cairo within a walking distance to many locations (if you prefer to walk). There are two metro stations close by with different metro lines available. The staff is very helpful and kind. The room is good and perfectly falls in the category of affordable stay not necessarily a luxurious stay. Safety was not an issue but you have to be careful with extra attention, you know, you are in Cairo. No hostile incidents at all.

Might be a little noisy at night. The hotel is located on a very busy streets full of markets. This wasn’t an issue for me. Be careful when you take Uber or Careem (a taxi app). The drivers can change route to increase rates so easy. No safety issues though.

I made a good choice!

Good location-Egyptian Museum and Cairo old town/souk district all 10-15 min walk, also close to 2 metro stations. Rooms not the most modern but perfectly acceptable for the price. Excellent breakfast-no rubbery omelette or chewy, tasteless bread rolls here-instead a good choice of various hot dishes which I devoured with aplomb.

No heating in room-very cold. Shower temperamental. TV could only pick up Egyptian channels.

cheap hotel with a laptop-friendly environment

The faded grandeur usual for this kind of hotels can in fact provide a certain level of comfort. The principal for me was that the room had a full-fledged desk, so that I could comfortably work on my laptop. There was also a good chair an a pair of armchairs. Basically everything was OK, the bathroom is spacey, the Egyptian buffet breakfast served every day albeit monotonous for a Westerner is still quite good. The hotel is located in the heart of the downtown within a 1 km walk from the Cairo museum. A good choice for travelers, who are on a tight budget, but need the amenities for business travelers otherwise inaccessible in cheap hotels.

The main shortcoming of this hotel is the street noise. From early morning till late at night the cars on the busy crossroads in front of the hotel are signalling. I had to constantly wear my headphones when I was in my room. Earmuffs would also be highly recommended. The other problem was the internet, the wifi was not always reachable. You have to report the problem to the reception so that they reset the network equipment.

In genera I enjoyed my stay in Cairo because I was student in Orman school sixty years ago

The hotel location in down town old Cairo is very good for people who would like to see Old buildings built at the time of Khidiwi Isymail French stile. Unfortunately the new Glass building in Fouad Street like Fairsal Islamic Bank misshaped the face of old Cairo.

I liked walking around the area and I was very sorry to see old beautiful Opera building changed into Garage?????

Location right in a pretty trashy intersection. But all of Cairo is pretty dirty and trashy so maybe it's not the hotel's fault

Great hotel for budget travelers

The hotel is an old building but has been well cared for - the room was spotless and the furniture and beds comfortable with matching curtains and bedspreads and chair coverings! The bathroom was also very clean though the shower curtain had seen better days! The bathroom contained both toilet and bidet plus clean bath and sink! Rooms are in blocks of 4 with a small sitting room outside each block, again with matching coverings! All the photos I've uploaded were taken by me! The air conditioner was in good working order and there was a 32" flatscreen TV with many satellite channels The restaurant is good and an excellent breakfast was provided, staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English!

The room could do with a few more electric sockets for plugs, given that everyone travels with devices these days Only 2 small hand towels were provided, though they were clean and white, would have preferred bath sized towels! The fridge has definitely seen better days The room faced a very very busy main road and traffic doesn't die down in Egypt until the small hours! Take this into consideration if you're a light sleeper

Don't bother booking

The location was good which was in the town centre

The wifi was appalling I could not get a signal in my room. I had to come to the stairs and check my emails as this was the only place I could get a signal. I needed to find out the train travelling time back to Alexandria but no wifi signal. The staff was were not helpful when I complained and I ask d if they could check for me but was told "they didn't have internet"

terrific and safe.

if you like 1930's decor it will suit you perfectly. It is a dated hotel nowadays but fantastic situ and value for money. i would stay again and the staff were as helpful as you would want. very safe place.

we had a comfortable stay in the hotel.

we liked the hospitality of the staff . the breakfast provided was very good. on the whole we really had a very comfortable stay in the hotel.

the wifi needs to be improved a bit as it was slow and we could not do our required work through the net.

For the money we spent, it is good. The location is good. The staff is very nice and helpful.

The hotel offers a good Egyptian breakfast.

The hotel offers a good Egyptian breakfast. The rooms are well equipped (but ot course dated). I had not problems with the air condition or the water heater. The sheets and towels are clean.

Internet is slow and the wireless connection is unreliable. The location is convenient, but very noisy, as the hotel is overlooking a busy street junktion.
